The Fertiliser (Inorganic, Organic, or Mixed) (Control) (Second) Amendment Order, 2026, has been issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. The Nano Fertilizer Registration India 2026 regulation imposes streamlined registration and safety requirements for nano-fertilizers. These measures, which take effect immediately, aim to ensure that high-tech agricultural inputs are effective and safe for Indian farmers.
Key Highlights of the New Regulation: Nano fertilizer registration India 2026
The amendment covers many key requirements for manufacturers who want to develop or sell nano-fertilizers:
- Manufacturers must now provide bio-toxicity and safety data from NABL-accredited or Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)-compliant laboratories that meet Department of Biotechnology regulations.
- Mandatory Field Trials: For long-term approval (up to 5 years), the product must be tested on at least 10 crops over 2 seasons in 3 different agro-climatic zones.
- The initial notification period for new nano-fertilizers has been reduced from 3 years to 2 years.
- Manufacturers are legally required to provide a “Package of Practice” on the leaflet to farmers.
- Provide a particular dosage recommendation.
- Provide safety training to farmers on how to handle and use such products.
An application
A test report for each batch must be submitted to the Central Government before distribution or shipping. Application Process Manufacturers must now submit an application for nano-fertilizer clearance using the newly introduced Form G-5. This form requires full specifications, bio-efficacy test results from ICAR or State Agricultural Universities, and extensive toxicological reports.
