A new amendment has been made to the Fertiliser (Inorganic, Organic, or Mixed) Control Order, 1985, now may be called the Fertiliser Control Order, 2023.
The government has amended the Fertiliser (Inorganic, Organic, or Mixed) Control Order, 2023, in a significant development aimed at regulating the fertiliser industry. This amendment, which is expected to bring about significant changes, is set to take effect on the date it is published in the Official Gazette.
The Fertiliser (Inorganic, Organic, or Mixed) Control Order, 1985 has been a foundation in governing the specifications and standards of fertilisers in the country. This amendment modifies Schedule I, PART-A, specifically the “SPECIFICATIONS OF FERTILISERS.”
The amendment adds new serial numbers and entries after serial number 25 under the subheading 1 (g) MICRONUTRIENTS,” broadening the scope and specifications for micronutrients in fertilizers. The additional entries are anticipated to enhance the precision and effectiveness of regulations governing micronutrients in fertilisers.
Stakeholders in the agricultural sector, including farmers, manufacturers, and distributors, are urged to carefully review the amended order to ensure compliance with the updated standards. The move is consistent with the government’s commitment to promoting sustainable agricultural practices and ensuring the availability of high-quality fertilizers to boost crop yield and soil health.
Micronutrient entries with specifications must be inserted as follows:
Chelated Calcium as Ca-EDTA
Chelated Magnesium as Mg-EDTA
Chelated Manganese as Mn-EDTA
Chelated Copper as Cu-EDTA
Single Super Phosphate fortified with Zinc, Iron and Boron
Zinc Gluconate
Method of analysis Chelated Manganese as Mn-EDTA
Method of analysis of Chelated Magnesium as Mg-EDTA
Determination of Chelated Copper as Cu-EDTA
Estimation of Zinc Content in Chelated Zinc as Zinc Glycine by AAS
Estimation of Calcium Content in Chelated Calcium as Calcium Glycine by Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer
As the agricultural landscape continues to evolve, the amendment to the Fertiliser (Inorganic, Organic, or Mixed) Control Order, 2023, is poised to play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of fertiliser products and contributing to the overall growth and sustainability of the agricultural sector.
